Virtual Learning Series

The Deal Center was pleased to host this year’s virtual learning series, Professional Learning Community: Emergent Literacy, from March to October. Many thanks to our fabulous presenters, Dr. Marcia Kosanovich and Amy Reddick, as they guided more than 700 participants through four learning modules for a total of 12 engaging sessions. This forum was offered free of charge to preschool teachers and educators in an effort to connect, collaborate, and learn more about implementing evidence-based language and literacy strategies. We hosted participants from around the globe, including from many U.S. states, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand! The four modules, print knowledge, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and oral language, were grounded in research with the goal of teaching building blocks that will, in later grades, provide children with the foundation needed to become good readers. We hope to see many familiar faces from near and far — including new participants —when we kick off our next series, Understanding the Science to Implement Structured Literacy in January 2024. Thanks to everyone involved for making 2023’s virtual learning such a success!
