2023 Virtual Learning Series Begins

We kicked off our new four-part Virtual Learning Series, Professional Learning Community: Emergent Literacy, on March 21. Amy Reddick and Dr. Maria Kosanovich, both reading experts and supporters of the Deal Center, presented Module One, Print Knowledge, over three sessions. More than 200 educators attended the series and learned how print knowledge is linked to later achievement in decoding, spelling, and reading comprehension. 

Module Two begins May 11 and runs through June 8. Featured topics will include phonological awareness, the understanding that spoken language can be broken down into parts and the ability to manipulate those parts at the word, syllable, onset-rime, and phoneme levels.
