Volunteer Reader Training

March 21, 2024

Did you know you can help train volunteer readers? The Volunteer Reader Training Program helps adult readers learn and practice evidence-based strategies to share stories through reading aloud with children. Last month, the Deal Center held a pilot volunteer reader training event at the GCSU campus. More than 20 teachers, parents, and other community members attended. Our staff equipped participants with the confidence and tools to support children on the path to literacy! If you would like to host an event in your community, you can follow these 10 steps, including identifying a host organization, coordinating background checks, and arranging for the Deal Center team to facilitate the reader training portion with evidence-based practices. Please contact us at galiteracy@gcsu.edu to find out how you can get involved.
