Programs

The Deal Center offers a wide array of programming, both in-person and virtually,  to advance evidence-based language and literacy practices throughout the state of Georgia. We provide workshops, training series, guest lectures and seminars, as well as our annual Governor’s Literacy Summit.

Pilot Programs

Lakeview Primary Reading Clinic

Our Reading Clinic Project aims to revolutionize literacy education through a sustainable and scalable model. Our innovative approach serves a dual purpose: it provides crucial support to struggling readers, helping them achieve significant improvements in their reading skills, while simultaneously offering valuable hands-on experience to pre-service teachers. By grounding our methods in the science of reading, we ensure practices are evidence-based and effective. This project represents our commitment to addressing literacy challenges at both the student and educator levels, creating a lasting impact on reading education.

Empowering School Boards: The Science of Reading and Informed Literacy Decisions

In this knowledge-building session, the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy presents an exploration of the science of reading. As Georgia implements new literacy legislation, school board members play a pivotal role in shaping the future of reading instruction. This presentation aims to equip board members with the essential understanding needed to make informed decisions about curriculum and assessments. Contact us to schedule a training for your district!
